Nepal has suffered its second consecutive defeat in the Cricket World Cup League 2. In League 2, currently being held in the Netherlands, Nepal once again put up a weak batting performance and was defeated by the home team, the Dutch, by 6 wickets on Thursday.

After losing the toss and coming in to bat, Nepal was bowled out for 157 runs in 44.4 overs by the Netherlands in Utrecht on Thursday. In the match against Namibia on Tuesday, Nepal was also bowled out for 157 runs. After captain Scott Edwards played a responsible innings, the Netherlands chased down the target in 44.1 overs.

Nepal had lost to Namibia by 8 wickets in the previous match. This is Nepal's 12th defeat in 18 matches played abroad in League 2. In the four previous matches played in League 2, Nepal had won three times against the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is in third place with 34 points from 29 matches. The United States, with 43 points from 32 matches, and Scotland, with 38 points, occupy the top two spots. Oman is in fourth place with 31 points from 28 matches. Nepal is in fifth place in the eight-nation tournament with 24 points from 30 matches. With only the top four teams in League 2 qualifying directly for the World Cup Qualifier, Nepal's chances of finishing in the top four are becoming increasingly slim.

Edwards scored an unbeaten 61 runs to lead the Netherlands to victory. He faced 89 balls, hitting 2 fours and 1 six. Edwards shared an unbeaten 85-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Noah Croes in 129 balls. Croes scored 34 runs off 59 balls, hitting 1 four.

Edwards was given two chances. When he was on 32 runs, Lalit Rajbanshi dropped a catch at fine leg off Karan KC's bowling. When he was on 35, Sompal Kami missed a return catch opportunity.

Sompal had given Nepal a good start by bowling Max O'Dowd for 9 runs. The other opener, Cedric de Lange, scored 21 runs. He faced 51 balls and hit 2 fours before being caught by wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh off Dipendra Singh Airee's bowling. Bas de Leede was bowled by Lalit for 1 run. Jack Leonn Kachett was run out for 21 runs. He faced 49 balls and hit 2 fours.

Earlier, Nepal's opening pair, Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel, tried to play steadily. However, after Alex Roy had Aasif caught by Noah Croes at first slip, Nepal played under pressure for the rest of the innings. Aasif scored 14 runs off 17 balls, including 2 fours.

Two balls after Aasif was out, Kyle Klein trapped Kushal LBW for 9 runs. Roy trapped captain Rohit Paudel LBW for 3 runs and had Ishan Pandey caught by the wicketkeeper for 4 runs.

Dipendra Singh Airee scored 21 runs. He faced 42 balls but could not hit any boundaries. Arif Sheikh was Nepal's top scorer with 41 runs. He faced 90 balls and hit 4 fours. Arif was out as the eighth batsman in the 44th over.
