The 23rd edition of the ‘NSJF Pulsar Sports Award’, organized annually by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF), will be held on 18 Bhadra. According to the Forum, the event will take place at ‘The Blue Pavilion’ of the Nepal Police Club, located at Exhibition Road in the capital.
For the award, the Forum has also renewed its agreement with the main sponsor, Golchha Group. This marks the 19th consecutive year that Golchha Group has been associated with the award. On Wednesday, the agreement was signed by Forum President Niranjan Adhikari and Golchha Group Director Abhimanyu Golchha. After the signing, Director Golchha stated that his organization considers it a responsibility to continuously collaborate with such a prestigious event in Nepali sports, and that efforts to enhance its standard will continue. “We are proud to have been associated with the Forum for 19 consecutive years. We have been walking together with Nepali sports continuously. However, our relationship with the Forum is like that of a family,” he said.
Forum President Adhikari said that continuous collaboration with Golchha Group has made it easier to organize the award in a more systematic and sustained manner. Forum General Secretary Anjan Khadka informed that the Pulsar Sports Award 2082 will present awards in nine categories. These include Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Para Athlete Honor, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Asian Sports Journalist Award.
It was announced that nominations for Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and People’s Choice Award will be made public within a few days. The Forum’s player selection committee has already begun preparations for this. There is a provision for five nominees in each category. General Secretary Khadka informed that since the People’s Choice category will be decided by voting, its nominations will be announced soon.
The winners of Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, People’s Choice, Coach of the Year, and Youth Player of the Year will each receive a Pulsar motorcycle. Winners and honorees in other categories will each receive 100,000 rupees.
In last year’s edition held in Pokhara, Dipendra Singh Airee from cricket won in the men’s category, Erika Gurung from karate in the women’s category, Pooja Mahato from cricket in the youth category, and Kabiraj Negi Lama from para taekwondo in the coach category. The People’s Choice Award was won by Himal Sunari from volleyball.
The Special Award honored Tulsi Kumar Gurung from taekwondo, the Para Athlete Honor went to Prabha Angdembe, the Asian Sports Journalist Award was presented to Bangladeshi journalist Rana Hasan, and the Lifetime Achievement Award honored Khadga Ranabhat.
