National golf team players Rahul Bishwakarma and Tenzing Tshering have left for Thailand for training. They will practice at Asia's prestigious ASA Golf Academy under the guidance of head coach Chris Assawapimonporn. This training is considered an important part of the preparation for the 20th Asian Games.
Bishal Shrestha, Vice-Chairman of the National Sports Council (NSC), bid farewell to both the players and urged them to make the most of the training opportunity.
Rahul's training program, initiated by the Nepal Golf Association (NGA), has been financially supported by the National Sports Council and the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC).
NGA President Tasi Ghale expressed his gratitude to the NSC and the NOC and expressed his belief that preparations have been underway for the Asian Games for the past three years under the 'Mission-2026' program and that this training will be of great benefit to Rahul.
Rahul is one of the three male Nepali golfers selected for the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan this year. He said that it is a matter of pride for him to be trained at a world-class golf academy. He said that his first goal is to break the cut among strong competitors in the Asian Games.
Tenzing, on the other hand, participated in the training at the request of the Nepal Golf Association, and his family has borne all his expenses. He said that the training aims to provide him with valuable experience for the next phase of his playing career, as well as improve his short game and scoring skills.
According to the NGA, Tenzing's father and former national amateur golfer Tashi Tshering has also helped with Rahul's travel expenses to Thailand. Other members of the national team, Sadbhav Acharya and professional golfer Subash Tamang are training in the US and India, while female golfer Tara Karki Chitrakar is training in Nepal.
