Table tennis players Sanyog Kapali and Yongi Poudel left for Seoul, South Korea on Saturday for overseas training for the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi/Nagoya, Japan. Both players are national champions.
They will participate in a month-long special training at Doksan High School in Seoul from July 18 to August 18, said All Nepal Table Tennis Association Treasurer Jacky Maharjan. According to him, the Nepali players have gone to participate in the training at the invitation of Yang Youngjae, the gold medalist of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
During the training period, the players will get the opportunity to practice regularly with the best players in South Korea and will also meet the players and coaches of the South Korean national table tennis team, observe their training sessions and exchange experiences.
National Sports Council member Sikka Suwal Shrestha and Treasurer Maharjan bid them farewell with best wishes for successful training and excellent performance in the Asian Games.
Six players, including these two players, have been selected from table tennis for the Asian Games. Treasurer Maharjan said that initiatives are being taken to train the remaining players.
