The wushu team is set to train in Kunming, China, in preparation for the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi/Nagoya, Japan.

The players include Hari Gole, Rajiv Tamang, Deepak Hamal, Vijay Sinjali and Savita Rai. Sushmita Tamang, who was selected for the Asian Games, is in China and will join the team from there. The coach is Prakash Maharjan.

Apart from the Asian Games team, player Nima Gharti Magar and coach Navin Basnet will also go to China with the team. Nepal Wushu Federation General Secretary Nawaraj Dhungana said that the players are being trained at Yunnan University with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.

General Secretary Dhungana said that the players will be trained for one month and that efforts are being made to provide the same training for another month. He said that efforts are being made to train the 90th player participating in the Asian Games in Yunnan.

The team was bid farewell by National Sports Council Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta and Chinese Embassy Consul Wang Dong on Friday. The team will leave for the tournament on Sunday.

Member-Secretary Mehta said that foreign training would boost the morale of the players and wished them good luck for the best results in the Asian Games. He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for facilitating the training.

Consul Dong recalled that Yunnan University has collaborated with Nepal in the field of sports in the past and said that the players will receive high-level training.
