Popular volleyball player Usha Bhandari has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Nepal Volleyball League (NVL) franchise team Annapurna Spikers Kings.
Annapurna Spikers, owned by Sumira Sports Venture, and outside hitter Usha signed a three-year agreement in the capital on Wednesday. According to the agreement, Usha will assist in the team's promotional activities and publicity and will play an important role in the development of Nepali volleyball from the grassroots with Annapurna Spikers.
Annapurna Spikers owner Subodh Tripathi said that the collaboration with Usha will help in the development of the first-ever men's volleyball franchise league.
He said that since volleyball is a national sport, he also aims to contribute to the volleyball league.
Usha said that she is happy to become an ambassador for the first time in the men's volleyball league. 'Earlier, I was associated with other sports like football and cricket. I was born in Gandaki and I accepted the offer from Gandaki's team Annapurna Spikers in the beginning.'
It is said that this collaboration between Annapurna Spikers, who are representing the Gandaki region in the Nepal Volleyball League, and Usha, who was born in Tanahun, is meaningful. It is said that the Gandaki region, which has a strong hold on volleyball lovers, and the affiliation of Usha, a girl from the same region, will help a lot in expanding Annapurna's brand and connecting players to the grassroots.
Usha, who has been playing for Nepal Police Club in domestic volleyball, has also played professional volleyball for various clubs in the Maldives. She has a large fan following. Usha, who made her debut at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) in 2019 at the age of just 14, has been continuously performing well on the national and international stage.
It is said that the first-ever 6-team Nepal Volleyball League organized by Kedia Group will be held in the first week of Bhadra.
