Lalitpur Metropolitan City and Bethanchowk Rural Municipality have won the titles in the Bagmati Province-level Mayor Cup Women's and Men's Volleyball Tournament.
In the men's final held on Saturday at the Volleyball Training Center court in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur Metropolitan City defeated Mahankal Rural Municipality 3–0 in sets to become champions. Lalitpur won with scores of 25–20, 25–15, and 25–20. In the men's category, Madhi Municipality secured third place.
In the women's category, Bethanchowk Rural Municipality defeated Kathmandu Metropolitan City 3–1 in sets to claim the title. Bethanchowk won the first set 25–16, but lost the second set 21–25. After that, they won the third set 25–23 and the fourth set 25–8 to become champions. In the women's category, Lalitpur Metropolitan City finished in third place.
Both winning teams received a prize of 200,000 rupees each, while the runner-up teams received 100,000 rupees. In the men's category, Ashok Shrestha from Lalitpur and in the women's category, Rikjana Bhote from Bethanchowk were declared the best players. Both received a prize of 10,000 rupees each.
In the women's category, Sunita Basnet from Kathmandu was declared the best spiker, Purnakala KC from Bethanchowk the best setter, Sarika Karki from Kathmandu the best blocker, and Smriti Rai from Lalitpur the best libero. Each received a prize of 5,000 rupees.
In the men's category, Baldev Singh Dhami from Mahankal was declared the best spiker, Subash Kunwar from Lalitpur the best setter, Chiran Khadka from Lalitpur the best blocker, Anil Singh from Mahankal the best server, and Rajan Darlami Magar from Lalitpur the best libero. Each also received a prize of 5,000 rupees.
The players of the winning teams were presented with trophies and cash prizes by Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya, and others.
The tournament was organized by the Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center with the support of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, with the aim of developing volleyball at the provincial level, enhancing players' abilities, and creating an environment of healthy competition.
