The National Sports Council (NSC) on Friday provided sports uniforms to athletes and coaches undergoing special training for the national team under Mission 2026.
Sportswear was distributed to athletes and coaches participating in preparatory training for ten different sports. The distribution was made to athletes and coaches of karate, boxing, women's kabaddi, women's volleyball, taekwondo, wrestling, judo, wushu, golf, and athletics.
Vice President of the National Sports Council Bishal Shrestha, member Sikka Suwal Shrestha, and member Pawan Shahi distributed the sportswear. Vice President Shrestha said that starting special preparatory training was a good initiative and added that now it is time for the athletes to prove themselves at the Asian Games.
Erika Gurung, the record-holding silver medalist in karate at the Hangzhou Asian Games, said that the training has energized the athletes. She mentioned that the long-term training has made things easier and that they are ready for the Asian Games.
Director of National Team Preparation Deepak Bishst informed that sportswear has also been distributed to athletes of para taekwondo, swimming, athletics, badminton, and powerlifting.
With the goal of winning double-digit medals including gold at the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan, the National Sports Council started special national team preparatory training under Mission–2026 from February 15, 2024.
