Prakash Chandra Nepal from Jhapa has won the Koshi Province-level chess championship. In the match held in Diktel on Tuesday, Nepal claimed the title by defeating Suman Shrestha of Dhankuta.

Similarly, in the women's category, Kusum Ghising from Aiselukharka, Khotang, came first. She secured her victory by defeating Leela Senehang from Taplejung. Ghising, the winner, received 7,000 rupees along with a medal, trophy, and certificate, while Senehang, who came second, received 5,000 rupees. Tapasya Karki from Halesi, Khotang, came third and received 4,000 rupees.
Likewise, in the hill champion category, Ngima Sherpa from Taplejung, Mankumar Rai from Halesi, Khotang, and Ayush Rai from Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality were declared first. They received 4,000 and 3,000 rupees respectively.
In the under-16 category, Abhishek Acharya from Panch Secondary School, Diktel, and in the under-12 category, Krishal Pradhan from the same school, were victorious. They received 4,000 and 3,000 rupees respectively.
Among students, Rakesh Rai from Panch Secondary School, Diktel, came first; Kamal Rajbhandari from Diktel English Secondary Boarding School came second; and Sushant Rai from Saraswati Secondary School came third. They received 5,000, 4,000, and 3,000 rupees respectively.
The competition was organized by the Nepal Sports Foundation with financial support from the Koshi Province Sports Development Board. The event was co-organized by the Koshi Province Chess Association, coordinated by the District Sports Development Committee Khotang, and managed by the District Chess Association Khotang.
The closing ceremony of the competition was held under the chief guestship of Sun Bahadur Rai, Chief of the District Coordination Committee Khotang, with special guests Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, Mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, and Surendra Rai, President of the Koshi Province Chess Association.
