The Harrisburg Gorkha team has won the Nepali cricket match held in Harrisburg, the capital of the US state of Pennsylvania. The final match of the 3-day T-12 Cricket Fair, which was held with the participation of 11 best teams from across the US, was held between Harrisburg Gorkha and Druk Rebels on July 5 evening.
Unity Sports and Cultural Alliance and Reunion Cricket Club organized this tournament so that people of Nepali origin, regardless of where they were born in the world and who are also involved in cricket, can form a team and participate.
Nova Royals, Himalayan Kings, Hunter Boys, Reunion Cricket Club, Everest Lions, Sathi Baltimore, Cincinnati Warriors, Druk Rebels, Knight Riders and Harrisburg Gorkha Cricket Club participated in this tournament organized for Nepalis from across the US.
Sponsored by Intra National Welfare and Support Foundation, Intra Mortgage, Intra Pharmacy and Ghimire Homes, the winner Harrisburg Gorkha defeated the rival Druk Revels by 24 runs.
Pennsylvania State Representative Dave Madsen inaugurated the game and expressed his belief that this game of the Nepali community will contribute to making society disciplined and encouraging the young generation to contribute to the nation through sports. Swetara Township and Susquehanna Township Commissioners Tom Conley and Fred Felona, Intra Foundation Executive Director Chudamani Bhattarai and Unity Club President Omraj Gurung congratulated Ezekiel Ghatani on the game.
Similarly, Manish Humagai, Best Bowler Basu Dhungana, Best Fielder Subodh Wagle, Best Wicketkeeper Khagen Dhimal and Best Catch Ayush Khanal have been declared. Similarly, the Fair Play Award has been won by the team from Baltimore.
According to a press release issued by Purna Rai of the organizing organization, the winning team received 7 thousand US dollars and the runner-up team received 3 thousand 500 US dollars. The winners were handed over by Chairman Gurung and Executive Director of the Foundation Bhattarai.
