Sunsari has won the title of the Koshi Province-level Karate Competition. In the competition held in Inaruwa on Saturday, Sunsari succeeded in becoming the overall team champion by winning 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Jhapa secured second place in the competition with 5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals, while Dhankuta settled for third place by winning 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Sunsari, who came first in the competition, received a cash prize of Rs 35,000, Jhapa, who came second, received Rs 25,000, and Dhankuta, who came third, received Rs 15,000.
Players from 9 districts of Koshi Province participated in the two-day competition. In the individual category, Smriti Chaudhary of Sunsari was declared the best player in the girls' category, while Parbat Menyangbo of Pachathar was declared the best player in the boys' category.
Biplav Ghosh, Member Secretary of the Koshi Province Sports Development Board, presented the prizes to the winners and runners-up. The tournament, organized by the Nepal Karate Federation, Sunsari, will provide an opportunity for players from the province to showcase their talents and will also make a significant contribution to the development and expansion of the sport of karate, according to the organizers.
