Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel has said that the reason for the suspension of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) by the International Football Federation (FIFA) is not only the interference of the current government. Pokharel, who is also the Minister of Education and Sports, said that FIFA suspended the ANFA because of interference from the previous government. 'It is not only because the current government came and intervened, but there was various types of government interference from different levels at different times. This time too, they are complaining that they stopped us from going to watch the World Cup. ANFA officials go to the World Cup when Nepal's football is doing something, it is not that Nepal should play the World Cup, it has to show some hope,' Pokharel said. Pokharel also said that an investigation is underway into complaints about corruption in ANFA. 'Until now, the government has repeatedly interfered in ANFA in the past. We have also received many complaints of corruption in ANFA. Since there have been many complaints, we have also formed an investigation committee under the chairmanship of the Vice President of the National Football Council. As soon as the investigation is complete, we will send it to the relevant body,' he said.

Minister Pokharel also said that there will be no political appointments in ANFA in the coming days. 'The new ANFA will be formed by bringing in former players who have contributed to football, players and people who understand the game, not politically,' he said. Minister Pokharel also said that the government will take serious steps for the development of football. He also said that ANFA will not be allowed to become a political recruitment center and a place of corruption.
