Kathmandu Gorkhaz have appointed former national cricketer Sharad Veshavkar as the ‘Cricket Director’. Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise Kathmandu Gorkhaz announced on Tuesday that they have hired Sharad with the aim of the upcoming season of NPL in mind.

Sharad played for Chitwan Rhinos in the first season of NPL in 2024. Now, he will be working with the important responsibility of cricket management, strategy, technical aspects, and player management of Gorkhaz.

The Gorkhaz management is confident that Sharad’s arrival will further strengthen the technical and cricket management of Kathmandu Gorkhaz. ‘Every season, we are making our cricket management more efficient, and with an experienced person like Sharad, who has spent a long time in cricket, we feel that we can do better on and off the field. We are very excited to work with Sharad,’ Kathmandu Gorkhaz said in a statement.

Sharad started playing international cricket from the ACC U-15 Asia Cup held in the UAE in 2002. After that, through Nepal’s U-17, U-19, Sharad played for the national team for the first time in 2004. Sharad played a key role in Nepal's first T20 World Cup in 2014. Sharad was a member of the team when Nepal played its first ODI in the Netherlands in 2018. The highest score by a Nepali player in first-class cricket is 89 runs, which Sharad made in the Intercontinental Cup against the UAE in Kirtipur in 2005. Sharad ended his colorful playing career by captaining Nepal in the Hong Kong Super Six last year. Sharad was a very successful player and captain in domestic cricket.
