Karnali Province has emerged as the champion in the men's and Bagmati Province in the women's sevens rugby tournament.
Organized with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of young players and producing talented players for international competitions, the tournament saw competition between various provincial teams.
Five provincial teams participated in the men's and four provincial teams in the women's sevens. According to the organizers, the tournament will provide young players with an opportunity to showcase their skills at the national level and will also play an important role in selecting the Nepali team for the U-20 Asian Rugby Championship to be held in India in November.
In the men's final, Karnali won a thrilling 15-10 win over Bagmati Province. In the women's final, Bagmati defeated Koshi Province 5-0. Manoj Tamrakar of Karnali was declared the best player in the men's category. Pooja Dangol of Bagmati was declared the best player in the women's category.
The winners were awarded by Tanklal Ghising, Vice-President of Asia Rugby and former Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council.
The event was organized by the Martyr Memorial Sports Academy, supported by the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, managed by the Bagmati Province Rugby Association, and coordinated by the Nepal Rugby Association, said the organizing committee chairman Ranjit Tamang.
