Bodybuilding team heading to Bhutan

Five male and two female athletes are leaving for Bhutan on Tuesday to participate in the 16th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship to be held from June 16 to 20.

A 9-member Nepali team, including 7 players, is set to leave for Thimphu, Bhutan on Tuesday to participate in the 16th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship.

5 men and 2 women will compete in the competition to be held from 16 to 20 Ashad.

Sagendra Singh in the men's 75 kg category, Deepjung Roka Magar in the 80 kg category, Sagar Shrestha in the 85 kg category, Akash Shrestha in the sports physique category under 170 cm and Pukar Shakya in the sports physique category above 170 cm will compete. Binu GT will participate in the women's model physique category over 155 cm and Sita Khatri in the swimsuit category.

The federation has stated that the players have been selected keeping in mind the 9th Mr. Himalaya and 2nd Mr. Mahanagar bodybuilding competitions. The official is Dinesh Kumar Rajbhandari, secretary of the Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, and Johnson Johnson is among the judges.

Bishal Shrestha, vice-chairman of the National Sports Council, bid farewell to the team on Monday.

Nepal, which has been participating continuously since the first edition of the South Asian Bodybuilding Federation, has won 12 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze medals so far, according to the federation. Out of the 15 editions, 3 were held in Nepal.
