Tribhuvan Army Club has won the title of the 46th National Athletics Championship by winning a total of 36 medals, including 17 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze.

Army performed well in the three-day competition held in Birendranagar, Surkhet and became the champion. Similarly, Nepal Police Club came in second place. Police won 18 medals, including 8 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze. Bagmati Province came in third place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Jayarani Tharu of Nepal Police Club shone in the women's 400-meter race and triple jump in the competition. She completed the 400-meter race in 57:19 seconds, breaking the record of 58:10 seconds set by APF's Ramita Tharu in the 9th National Games. In the triple jump, she also broke the old record of 12 meters 20 centimeters held by Kesari Chaudhary by clearing a distance of 12 meters 49 centimeters. Tribhuvan Army Club set a new national record in the women's 1600 meters relay.

Similarly, in the men's long jump, Salim Dewan of the Army jumped 7 meters 58 centimeters, breaking the old record of 7 meters 32 centimeters set in the 8th National Games. Organized by the Nepal Athletics Association and supported by the Karnali Provincial Sports Council, 10 teams from seven provinces and three departments participated in the competition. A total of 240 players, including 120 women and 120 men, competed in 28 categories in the competition.

Along with Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club and APF Club participated in the competition. The winner of each category of the competition received 15,000 rupees, the runner-up 10,000 rupees and the third-place player received 5,000 rupees in cash, along with trophies, medals and certificates.

Karnali Province's Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning and Nepal Athletics Association Central President Rajiv Bikram Shah said that the region would be developed as a sports hub. 'Now, South Asian-level competitions will be held in Karnali, sports also play an important role in tourism and the economy,' he said, 'This time, only 320 players from seven provinces and three departments participated, but now there is a plan to bring in 3,000 players.'
