Nepali mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Koish Shrestha will compete for the Delhi team in India's International Fight League (IFL).

Known as the first franchise-based MMA fighting competition in India, the IFL is a combat sports platform that is becoming popular in South Asia.

Inspired by successful franchise-based competitions like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pro Kabaddi League and Indian Super League (ISL), the IFL has brought the best fighters in the region on one platform through teams from different cities. This is creating an opportunity to make the sport of MMA professional and sustainable.

Koish, who currently holds a 1-0 professional MMA record, will compete for the Delhi team. He will take on veteran fighter Prachanda Jamilya of the Mumbai franchise. Prachanda has an amateur record of 14-4. This clash between Delhi and Mumbai is expected to be one of the main attractions of the tournament.

With the growing recognition of Nepali players at the international level, Kosh's participation in the Delhi franchise is also seen as another significant achievement.

This has shown the strong presence of Nepali talent in professional combat sports and has also highlighted the potential of Nepal to produce players who can compete at the highest level.

Nepal was introduced to the world stage by Nepali pro fighter Rabindra Dhant's performance in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
