Colombia scored two second-half goals to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in the 2026 World Cup on Thursday. With this, Colombia climbed to the top of Group ‘K’ with three points. After Portugal and DR Congo drew 1-1 in the first match of the same group, Colombia has reached a strong position in Group ‘K’.
In the match held at the Mexico City Stadium, Colombia took the lead in the 40th minute thanks to a brilliant volley by Daniel Munoz. Uzbekistan, who are making their World Cup debut, managed to equalize in the 60th minute of the match. Uzbekistan is playing in the World Cup for the first time under the leadership of coach Fabio Cannavaro.
Uzbekistan presented a strong challenge in the second half and in this process, Ebosbek Fayzulev scored a goal with a header. But Colombia managed to take the lead again in the 65th minute through Diaz's goal. Jaminton Campaz added a third goal for Colombia in the ninth minute of injury time of the second half.
Portugal will now face Uzbekistan and Colombia will face DR Congo.
