Bhuvan Nagarkoti has taken the lead on the first day of the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship on Tuesday with a brilliant score of 9-under 63.
At the end of the first round, Bhuvan has trailed three amateur golfers Sadbhav Acharya, Tenzing Tshering and Norbu Tshering Sherpa by 4 strokes. Sadbhav, Tenzing and Norbu, who scored 5-under 67, are in joint second place.
Shukra Bahadur Rai and Toran Bikram Shahi took fifth place with a score of 4-under 68. Amateur Wangchen Dhondup and professional golfers Neeraj Tamang, Bhuvan Rokka, Subash Tamang and Dinesh Prajapati were in joint seventh place with a score of 3-under 69.
Former champion amateur golfer Rahul Bishwakarma is in 12th place with a 2-under 70 and Dhan Bahadur Thapa is in 13th place with a 1-under 71.
Bhuvan made a bogey-free card in his brilliant performance. Birdies on the first, third and seventh holes took the front nine to 3-under 33. After this, he birdied the 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes and made an eagle on the 4-par 18th hole. He finished the back nine at 6-under 30.
Sadbhav started the day with a bogey but saved one shot each on the third, seventh and ninth holes to play 2-under 34 on the front nine. After this, he made a bogey on the 11th hole but made an eagle on the 12th hole. After this, birdies on the 15th and 18th holes took the back nine to 3-under 33.
Tenzing faced a bogey on the first hole. He saved one shot each on the second, third and seventh holes. He made a double bogey on the eighth hole. Then, he made an eagle on the ninth hole to finish the front nine at 2-under 34. He made a double bogey on the 10th hole and then made his second eagle of the day on the 11th hole. After this, birdies on the 12th, 17th and 18th holes made the back nine 3-under 33.
Norbu birdied the first, third and seventh holes while playing a bogey-free front nine. He played 3-under 33 on the front nine. After this, he made a bogey on the 10th hole and birdied the 11th, 15th and 16th holes to make the back nine 2-under 34.
46 professionals and 22 amateur golfers are competing in the competition with the highest cash prize of 1.8 million rupees of the season.
The cut will be implemented at the end of the second day. The top 18 professionals and amateur players who fall into the same cut will compete in the final two rounds.
The winner will receive 320,000. The second, third and fourth place players will receive 266,000, 162,000 and 145,000 respectively. The Pro Am competition will be held on Saturday. This is the final tournament of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025/26 season.
