The final tournament of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025/26 season, the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship, will begin at the Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday.

The tournament, organized by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA), will be held from Asad 2 to 5 in 72 holes. The cut will be implemented after the first 36 holes of the tournament and the top 18 professionals and amateur players who fall within the same cut will be selected for the final two rounds, the NPGA said.

NPGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya said that the best professional golfers in the tournament will compete for a prize money of Rs 1.8 million. The winner will receive Rs 320,000, the runner-up will receive Rs 206,000. The players who secure the third, fourth and fifth positions will receive Rs 162,000, Rs 145,000 and Rs 128,000 respectively. All the pro players in the top 18 will receive cash prizes. The 18th place winner will receive Rs 40,000. Amateur players with a handicap of three or less will also participate in the competition.

Bhuvan Nagarkoti is leading the prize money for the season before the final competition. He has won 827,500 prize money in various competitions with four titles. If he finishes in the top 10, he will be sure to be number one. Neeraj Tamang is in second place with Rs 500,000. He has won two titles this season. Dinesh Prajapati is in third place with Rs 484,833.

Subash Tamang, who is playing on the DP World PGTI Tour, will also participate in the competition. He has earned Rs 2,669,680 from eight PGTI tournaments this season. Another regular player, Shukra Bahadur Rai, will compete.

Nepal's top-ranked Sadbhav Acharya will compete in the amateur category. Along with Sadbhav, who is on a break from the NCAA Division 1 competition, former champion Rahul Vishwakarma is competing. Two other pros, Bishnu Sharma and Purna Sharma, are also preparing to play the competition.

‘Looking at the competition, it has reached its eighth edition. Many players playing abroad are playing in this competition. I expect the competition as well as the results to be interesting. If there is good competition, the score will also be good,’ said NPGA President Rabindraman Shrestha, adding that the season-ending competition has the largest prize money so far and the players are ready to compete with high morale.

After the main competition, a Pro-Am competition will be organized on Asad 20. 25 professional golfers and 100 corporate amateur players will participate in the competition. The Pro-Am competition, which is organized with the aim of providing opportunities to young talents, is expected to be attractive and competitive.
