Co-hosts Canada drew 1-1 with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday at the 2026 World Cup. It was the first draw of the tournament. It was also the first time Canada has scored a point at the tournament.

This is Canada's third appearance at the World Cup. The team previously played in Mexico in 1986 and Qatar in 2022, but Canada lost all of its matches in both editions.

Canada's Jonathan David had a good chance from close range in the 17th minute, but Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj saved it. But Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead in the 21st minute through Jovo Lukic's header and held it until half-time.

Canada tied the game at Toronto Stadium with a goal by Kyle Laurin in the 79th minute. He had Laurin's shot in the sixth minute of injury time saved by Bosnia's players, making it look like a sure goal.

Canada and Bosnia Herzegovina were both without their key players. Canada captain Alphonso Davies, who plays for Bayern Munich, and 40-year-old Bosnian striker Eden Hazard were both out of the game due to injury.
