The fourth district convention of the Kapilvastu District Cricket Association has elected a nine-member district committee under the chairmanship of Prakash Gaire unopposed.

The convention held on Tuesday has elected Bishvendra Singh Rawal, Ajay Sharma and Padmaraj Shrestha as the vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer of the committee respectively. Similarly, Dinesh Hamal, Rajesh Pratap Shakya, Maya Gyawali, Chandrakant Sharma and Rishikesh Shrestha have been selected as members, said election committee coordinator Advocate Amit Srivastava. Srivastava handed over certificates to the committee officials in the presence of Cricket Association Lumbini Province Acting President Binay Raj Bhandari.

Earlier, Nepal Cricket Association President Chatur Bahadur Chand, while inaugurating the convention, had said that investment should be made in infrastructure for the development of sports including cricket as it is impossible to sustain players without sports infrastructure.

Reminding that the district has produced talented cricket players who have played at the international level in the past, Chairman Gaire said that a team has recently been prepared from the district to participate in women's cricket at the national level. On the occasion, Kapilvastu Municipality Mayor Sudip Poudel and ward chairmen of various wards were presented with certificates of appreciation for their support in the Memorial Cup organized by the Kapilvastu Cricket Association.
