The Nepal National Muay Thai Association is going to hold the third national Muay Thai competition.
The competition to be held at the Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor on 27 and 28 Ashad will feature 44 different weight groups, informed the association's president Ganesh Lal Kakshapati.
There will be 14 weight groups for men and 8 for women. There will be different categories of amateur and semi-professional in each weight category. President Kakshapati said that players who have played five fights will be eligible to compete in semi-pro.
Players who have played international professional competitions will not be eligible to participate in this national competition. It was informed at a press conference that about 300 players from all over the country will participate in the competition.
Stating that Muay Thai has also won medals in international competitions, President Kakshapati said that since it is a combat game, there is a good chance for Muay Thai in Nepal. He informed that since demonstrations have been held in the ninth national game, Muay Thai will also be included in the tenth national game.
