Karate players have been selected for the 20th Asian Games. The national karate team was selected on Tuesday for the Asian Games to be held in Aichi/Nagoya, Japan in September. The Nepal Karate Federation has said that the players were selected through a round-robin match. In the men's category, Sonim Manandhar (individual), Rakesh Manandhar (55 kg), Min Bahadur Tamang (60 kg) and Tenzing Sherpa (above 84 kg) have been selected in kata, and in kumite, Rakesh Manandhar (55 kg), Min Bahadur Tamang (60 kg) and Tenzing Sherpa (above 84 kg) have been selected. In the women's category, Sanumaya Thing (individual), Pushpa Lama (50 kg), Nirupa Dong Tamang (68 kg), and Erika Gurung (above 68 kg) have been selected in kata. Elisha Raskoti Magar and Megha Limbu have been selected in the women's team kata. Kushal Shrestha is the head coach and Mandekaji Shrestha is the kata coach.

Erica won a historic silver medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. It was the first silver medal won by a karate athlete at the Asian Games.
