The ninth National Skateboard Competition organized by the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association is scheduled to be held on 10th and 11th Jestha. The organizing association has stated that about 400 players selected from all over the country will participate in the competition to be held at Yamabuddha Skate Park in Handigaun. Yamabuddha Skate Park was established with the support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and coordinated by the association, said its president Achyut Khanal.

250 male and 150 female players will compete in the competition, informed the association's general secretary Satya Thapa.

The first day of the two-day competition will be the qualifying round and the second day will be the final competition. There will be a competition in the best trick and best run under the freestyle category of skateboarding. Thapa said that the 'Skateboarder of the Year' will also be announced.

The winner of both the senior male and female categories in the competition will receive Rs 30,000, the runner-up Rs 20,000 and the third placer Rs 15,000. Chairman Khanal informed that the winner of both the junior men and women categories will receive 15,000, the second 10,000 and the third 5,000. The association has stated that the total budget of the competition is 2.1 million rupees.

Since its registration with the National Sports Council in 2070 BS, the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association has been holding national competitions in various cities of the country. The competition has also provided support in the player selection process for the 20th Asian Games. However, General Secretary Thapa said that the names of Gajendra Bardeva, Sharad Kumar Rai, Basanta Rai and Khushi Bik have been included in the longlist and two players will be selected from it.
