Purnaraj Shakya has been elected unopposed as the president of the District Cricket Association Palpa. The association's 19th general meeting and 5th district convention unanimously elected an 11-member new working committee under the chairmanship of Shakya.

Shailendra Bhattarai was elected as the vice-president of the newly elected working committee, Binod Nepal as the secretary, and Sachin Rana as the treasurer unopposed. Upendra Nepal, Rajiv Shrestha, Suresh Godar, Om Bahadur Thapa, Rajendraman Shakya, Melina Thapa and Mona Thapa have been elected as members.

At the program, Lumbini Province Sports Council Vice-President Raju Maharjan said that the importance of cricket should be explained from the school level and cricket should be included in sports activities. 'While everyone is attracted to cricket, it is necessary to promote cricket in the district,' he said, 'Sports will help the youth in personality development, discipline and leadership skills.' Therefore, we should understand its importance and move forward.'

Pradeep Bajgain, central member of the Nepal Cricket Association, urged the local level to focus on the construction of playgrounds for cricket. Binay Raj Bhandari, acting president of the Lumbini Province Cricket Association, said that there is a need to build a well-organized cricket field in Palpa.

Mathagadhi Rural Municipality Sports Coordinator Tej Bahadur Gharti Magar, District Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists Mukti Prasad Neupane and others said that the need for playgrounds is also increasing as the popularity of cricket has increased. The newly elected Vice President Bhattarai said that the working committee will work on issues such as player production and construction of necessary sports infrastructure, practice, and advancing the cricket academy.
