Hosts Tejaswi Academy and White Haven Academy got off to a winning start in the second Tejaswi Cup inter-school basketball tournament on Thursday.

Tejaswi defeated Landmark Academy 32-27 in the boys' division at their home court in Thapagaun, Tarkeshwor Municipality. Ayush Chantyal scored 17 points in Tejaswi's win. Neeraj Thapa's 13 points helped White Haven defeat Eden Bridge Academy (EBA) 28-20.

In the boys' category, KVC defeated Sanskriti Shiksha Sadan 34-26, Canvas Basantritu defeated Gyanodaya 21-19, JB School defeated Jeevan Jyoti 23-13, Sanskriti defeated Kinder Garden 23-13, Laligurans National Academy defeated Scholars Home 16-15 and defending champion Angels Heart defeated Belmont 31-18.

In the girls' category, Landmark defeated Tejaswi 'A' 20-18, EBA defeated KGS 23-18, Himsheela defeated Gyanodaya 13-10, Wijeshwari defeated Padyachakra 18-14 and Belmont defeated Tejaswi 'B' 20-4.

The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Tejaswi's Principal Thir Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director Rajkumar KC and Vice Principal Bishwa Pandey. 48 teams from 36 different schools are participating in the competition. 31 teams in boys' and 17 teams in girls' are competing on a league-cum-knockout basis.
