The second Mahamanjushree Cup Inter-School Three-by-Three Basketball Tournament organized by Mahamanjushree Secondary School is set to begin on Friday.
Mahamanjushree Principal Chudamani Marasini said at a press conference on Thursday that 72 teams from 44 schools will participate in the tournament in three different categories. Mahamanjushree basketball coach Shailesh Shrestha said that 32 teams will participate in the senior boys category, 20 teams each in the junior boys and senior girls categories.
Mahamanjushree Principal and Tournament Coordinator Hemlata Chamling said that the tournament will cost around Rs 2 lakh to run. Wilson Academy in the senior boys category, Greenfield in the junior boys category, and Chandbagh in the senior girls category are the previous winners.
Principal Marasini said that the tournament will prove to be important in further strengthening internal relations between schools and identifying talented players. The games of the three-day tournament will be played on the court of the organizing school.
