Kathmandu Metropolitan City has signed agreements with sectoral associations to conduct cricket, badminton and swimming competitions.

With the aim of organizing competitions at the local level and increasing Kathmandu Metropolitan City's investment in national and international player production, agreements have been signed with the Bagmati Province Cricket Association for the PL Singh T-20 Cricket Cup, the Kathmandu District Badminton Association for the Kathmandu Metropolitan Cup ward-level badminton competition, and the Nepal Swimming Association for the Mayor's Cup swimming competition.

The agreement was signed between Social Development Department Chief Samiksha Niraula and Bagmati Cricket Association Secretary Prashann Shakya, Kathmandu Badminton Association President Deepak Thapa and Swimming Association President Jagatman Shrestha in the presence of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Acting Chief Sunita Dangol, Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain and Social Committee Coordinator Ram Kumar KC.

These competitions will be conducted under the joint banner of the Metropolitan City. The Metropolitan City will provide Rs. 75 lakh for the cricket competition, Rs. 30 lakh for badminton and Rs. 1 million for swimming. The association itself will have to bear 20 percent of the cost for these competitions.

Swimming will be organized on 23 and 24 Jestha, badminton on 2 Asad and cricket on 5 Asad. Players from 6 metropolitan cities including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Bharatpur, Biratnagar and Birgunj will participate in the cricket competition. Swimming is a national-level open competition. There will be competition between national and international players in this. Badminton competition is at the metropolitan level. It is said that players from all wards will participate in it.

Acting Chief Dangol said that the collaboration is aimed at promoting sports at the local level and producing national and international level players. The executive meeting of the metropolitan city on 3 Jestha had decided to conduct these competitions.
