Pemadorje Bhutia, who received the title of Iron Man of Sikkim, said that the current honor is the result of Giri's dedication, hard work and struggle from a young age with limited resources. He started his sports career with Sitiriyo Karate in 2045/46. With continuous dedication and hard work, he became the national and world champion in bodybuilding. He said that there is no limit to his joy and happiness when he can make not only his own name but also the country's name known in the world through strengthlifting.

He became the world champion in strengthlifting from the Dharmashree title, which is considered the Olympics of bodybuilding in Nepal. He became the champion in the 10th World Championship competition organized by the World Strengthlifting Association in Hyderabad, India in 2023 by defeating an American player in the 115 kg plus weight category. Players from 19 countries participated in the competition. Being a good and excellent strengthlifting player, he has also been recognized as an international strengthlifting judge (referee). He was a judge in the 11th World Championship competition held in Kazakhstan in 2024.

He also became the Vice President of the World Powerlifting Federation (WPF) Asia in 2020.
