Biratnagar Metropolitan City has become the champion of the third edition of the Itahari Mayor's Cup Inter-City Cricket Tournament.

Biratnagar has succeeded in lifting the title for the third consecutive time by defeating Katahari Rural Municipality of Morang by 27 runs in the final match held on Saturday at the DVM School Complex in Itahari. Biratnagar had won the title of the first and second edition of the tournament. Biratnagar had defeated Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City in the final match of both editions.

Biratnagar scored 167 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kritik Kamat played a brilliant innings of 56 runs unbeaten for Biratnagar. Facing 45 balls, he remained unbeaten on 56 runs, hitting 4 sixes and 3 fours. Captain Firdos Ansari played a half-century innings of 51 runs in 23 balls, hitting 4 fours and a six. Deepak Paswan contributed 32 runs, giving Biratnagar an extra 20 runs. 

Chasing a winning target of 168 runs, Katahari could only score 140 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Katahari captain Lob Kamat contributed 49 runs with the help of 8 fours, but could not save the team from defeat.  While Rudra Pratap Shah scored 29 runs, Dipu Bhujel scored 13, Nitsar Basnet scored 12 and Abhay Kamat scored 11 runs. 

Biratnagar's Shravan Kisku, Amar Yadav and Shravan Yadav took 2 wickets each.  Biratnagar's captain Firdos Ansari was declared the Player of the Final and received a cash prize of Rs. 1,500.  Dipesh Kandel of Biratnagar was declared the Best Player and Best Bowler of the tournament.  He received Rs. 7,000 for being the Best Player and an additional Rs. 4,000 for being the Best Bowler.

Similarly, Katahari's Lob Kamat was declared the best batter of the tournament. He scored 114 runs throughout the tournament and received a prize of Rs 4,000. Along with the title, the winner Biratnagar received a cash prize of Rs 75,000, while the runner-up Katahari had to settle for Rs 40,000.

Ram Prasad Meheta, Minister for Social Development of Koshi Province, and Keshav Kumar Bista, former member secretary of the National Sports Council, distributed prizes to the winner and runner-up teams.

The tournament was organized by Ideal Sports Academy and coordinated by Itahari Sub-metropolitan City. Teams from 12 different municipalities of Koshi Province participated in the tournament.
