Iran has made a winning start to the Kabha Women's Volleyball Championship .

Iran defeated Bangladesh in straight sets of 25-6, 25-9, 25-10 in the opening match of the championship held at the Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor. Iran, captained by Iran's Savnam Alikhani, is the team in Group 'B' . Bangladesh played under the captaincy of Sabina Khatun .

Now, host Nepal is facing close rival India . Nepal is on the court for the first time under the captaincy of Niruta Thagunna .

The Nepali team includes captain Niruta, spikers Usha Bhandari, Salina Budha Magar, Kamna Bista, Rima Kunwar, Meena Suna, setters Pragati Nath and Jasna Mahato, liberos Salina Shrestha, Shanti Tamang, blockers Sumitra Regmi, Sunita Khatri, Basanti Saud and Alisha Manandhar. The head coach of the team is Jagdish Bhatt.

Group 'A' includes Nepal and India, Kyrgyzstan and Maldives. These two will also compete on Friday.

Eight countries, including Nepal, are participating in the FIVB Central Asia championship.
