Shukra Bahadur Rai and Bhuwan Nagarkoti tied for the lead at the Surya Nepal Challenge Golf on Wednesday with an overall score of 8-under 128. They both finished 3 strokes behind Dhan Bahadur Thapa with a best score of 6-under 62. Dhan shot a best score of 7-under 61 on the day. He scored 5-under 131 overall. Rame Magar, Bhuwan Kumar Rokka and Dinesh Prajapati, who had taken the lead the previous day, shared joint fourth place with an overall score of 3-under 133. Rame shot an even par 68, Bhuwan Rokka scored 1-over 69 and Dinesh scored 3-over 71. Deepak Magar, who shot a
1-under 67, finished seventh with an overall score of 2-under 134. Nepal's number one golfer Neeraj Tamang is in eighth place with an overall score of 1-under 135 with a 4-under 64. Ravi Khadka and Sanjay Lama are tied for ninth place with an even-par score of 136. Ravi shot 3-under 65 while Sanjay finished with 3-over 71.
In the amateur category, national team member Rahul Bishwakarma edged Swapnil Bhattarai by 1 stroke with an overall score of 2-under 134. Rahul carded 2-under 66. Swapnil, who scored 1-under 135 overall, scored 3-over 71. Kavi Thapa is in third place with an overall score of 5-over 141. Balram Poudel, who was in fourth place, also made the cut.
At the end of 36 holes, 22 players, including 18 pros and 4 amateurs, scored 8-over 144. Pradeep Kumar Lama, Tanka Bahadur Karki, Sunil KC, Ramesh Adhikari, Bikash Bogati, Jayaram Shrestha, Sanjeev Bahadur Nepali and Sundar Rai made the cut.
Shukra started the day with a bogey, but birdies on the sixth and eighth holes helped him finish the front nine at 1-under 33. After this, Shukra finished the back nine with an impressive performance of 5-under 29. He made three consecutive birdies from the 11th to 13th holes and saved shots on the 16th and 18th holes. He played a bogey-free back nine and made 5 birdies. He rose to the top position from the sixth.
Bhuvan finished both the front and back nine at 3-under 31. He prepared a bogey-free scorecard and achieved the success of 6 birdies on the first, fourth, ninth and 12th, 14th and 17th holes.
Dhan, who made the best 7-under card of the day, also performed bogey-free. He saved shots on the first, third and sixth holes and finished the front nine at 3-under 33. After this, birdies on the 13th, 14th, 17th and 18th holes completed the back nine at 4-under 30.
