Dinesh Prajapati has taken the lead on the first day of the Surya Nepal Challenge Golf on Monday with a brilliant score of 6-under 62.
Dinesh has beaten Bhuwan Kumar Rokka and amateur golfer Swapnil Bhattarai by 2 strokes. They are in joint second place with the same score of 4-under 64.
Sanjay Lama and Rame Magar are in joint fourth place with a score of 3-under 65. Bhuwan Nagarkoti and Shukra Bahadur Rai are in joint sixth place with a 2-under 66, while Deepak Magar, Tanka Bahadur Karki and amateur Balram Poudel are in joint eighth place with a 1-under 67.
In the amateur category, Swapnil is in the top spot with a 4-under 64, beating Balram Poudel by 3 strokes. Balram is in second place with a score of 1-under 67 and Rahul Bishwakarma is in third place with an even par 68.
Dinesh made a great start at the Royal Nepal Golf Club, hitting 8 birdies. He saved shots on the first, second and ninth holes but made bogey on the fifth hole. After finishing the front nine at 2-under 32, he birdied the 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 17th holes. After missing a shot on the 12th hole, he made a brilliant 4-under 30 on the back nine.
Bhuvan made up for a bogey on the third hole by birdying the first, fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth holes to finish the front nine at 4-under 30. He saved par on the remaining 9 holes and played an even par 34 on the back nine.
Amateur Swapnil played the front nine without a bogey. After making an eagle on the second hole, a birdie on the ninth hole took the front nine to 3-under 31. He made a bogey on the 12th hole and saved shots on the 13th and 17th holes to finish the back nine at 1-under 33.
The seventh tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025-26 is organized by the NPGA. 52 golfers are competing in the four-day tournament.
The winner will receive 130,000, while the second and third place players will receive 90,000 and 70,000 respectively.
