The seventh tournament under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2025-26, the Surya Nepal Challenge, is set to begin on Tuesday at the Royal Nepal Golf Course in Tilganga.
39 professional and 12 amateur golfers will participate in the 4-day 72-hole tournament. The cut will be implemented after the first 36 holes. The top 18 pro and amateur players will make it to the final 36 holes.
The condition of the golf course has been specially improved for the tournament. Most of the players are getting used to the course conditions through practice rounds before the tournament.
The total prize money for the tournament is 710,000. The winner will receive 130,000, while the runner-up will receive 90,000 and the third-place player will receive 70,000 rupees. The fourth and fifth-place players will receive 55,000 and 46,000 respectively. Other professional players who finish in the top 18 will also receive cash prizes.
The main contenders for this tournament include Bhuvan Nagarkoti, who has won 3 titles in the season, Neeraj Tamang, Shukra Bahadur Rai, Dinesh Prajapati and Jayaram Shrestha, who are at the top of the Order of Merit and have won two titles. In the amateur category, Surya Nepal Central Open winner Rahul Bishwakarma is also considered a strong contender.
NPGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha said that like in previous tournaments, this time too, the players are expected to perform excellently and score very well.
