Dhir Bahadur Budha and Sunmaya Budha from Jumla have won the title in the first Chhayanath Trail Ultra Race held in Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality of Mugu. 

Dhir Bahadur won the gold medal in the men's category and Sunmaya Budha won the gold medal in the women's category in the 33-kilometer race organized by Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality and in collaboration with the All Nepal Sports Foundation. 

Dhir Bahadur won the gold medal by completing the prescribed distance in 3 hours 57 minutes and 25 seconds. Dal Bahadur Kunwar from Jumla won the silver medal by covering the prescribed distance in 4 hours 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Chandra Bahadur Rawat won the bronze medal by covering the distance in 4 hours 5 minutes. Similarly, Arjun Kulung Rai finished fourth in 4 hours 24 minutes and Ramesh Limbu finished fifth in 4 hours 30 minutes and 10 seconds.

Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality Information Officer Sobindra Malla said that Sunmaya Budha won the gold medal in the women's category by completing the race in 5 hours 25 minutes 50 seconds. According to him, Rammaya Budha won the silver medal in 5 hours 26 minutes 40 seconds and Kalpana Budha won the bronze medal by covering the distance in 5 hours 35 minutes 20 seconds. Samjhana Budha finished fourth in 5 hours 40 minutes 10 seconds and Nirmala Rai finished fifth in 5 hours 48 minutes. 

According to the rural municipality, 23 international standard athletes participated in the race. 2 elite, 5 intermediate, 9 advanced and 7 explore category runners participated. The organizers have stated that the winners of the race will be awarded cash prizes, medals and certificates on Monday. The gold medal winners in the women's and men's categories will receive two hundred thousand rupees, a gold medal and a certificate. Similarly, the silver medal winners will receive one lakh 50 thousand rupees, and the bronze medal winners will receive one lakh cash, a bronze medal and a certificate. The fourth placer will receive Rs 75,000 and the fifth placer Rs 50,000, the organizers said. 

A total of 58 runners, including 12 women and 46 men, participated in the competition. The race, which has religious and touristic significance, started from Kimri and ended at Chhayanath, Chitaikuna and Puluma. 

Village Municipality Chairman Tshiring Kapne Lama said that the race was organized to develop the Chhayanath area as an international destination for religious and adventure sports tourism. He said, "We are confident that the local culture, natural heritage and Himalayan lifestyle will be introduced to the world and established as a destination for sports tourism."
