Dirpa Basnet and Amar Limbu won the 10-kilometer open race for over 15 years in Diktel on Saturday. The race was held on the occasion of the third major Khotang Halesi Sports Literary and Tourism Festival organized by the Nepal Sports Foundation.

Dirpa from Kepilasgadhi became the winner in the women's category, while Januka Raut from the Nepal Army came second and Manita Khadka from the Army came third. In the open men's category for over 15 years, Amir from Taplejung came first, Gajendra Rai from Khotang came second and Rudradhan Kulung from Solukhumbu came third.

The first to third place winners received 15,000, 10,000 and 7,000 cash prizes, trophies, medals and certificates respectively. In the 7-kilometer race for politicians, public representatives, journalists, employees, teachers and businessmen over 35 years, Ananta Rai from Udayapur came first, Viman Singh Tamang from Sunsari came second and Shiva Prasad Rai from Khotang came third. The first, second and third place winners were awarded Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 in cash, trophies, medals and certificates respectively, said Milan Kasaju, secretary of the foundation.

In the mothers' 5-kilometer race, Jamuna Katwal of Vijayakharka came first, Rojina Rai of APF came second and Bhimkumari Acharya of Buwalung came third, receiving Rs 5,555, Rs 4,444 and Rs 3,333 respectively. In the men's 2-kilometer race over 55 years of age, Dhaniram Rai of Khotang, Vichari Tamang and Buddhabir Lama of Kathmandu came first to third.

In the under-10 girls' one-mile race, Abeka Rai of Jalpa Secondary School came first, Yuna Rai of Saraswati Secondary School, Diktel, came second, and Shraddha Rai of Srimavi Basbote came third. In the boys' race, Anil Rai of Jalpa Secondary School, Ajay Shrestha of Srimavi Basbote came second, and Ravison Khatri of Diktel English Secondary Boarding School came third.

In the under-12 girls' 3-kilometer race, Mandira Shrestha of Srimavi Basbote, Lafyang, came first, Alisa Katwal of Sheetla Secondary School, Khalle, came second, and Raksha Bishwakarma of Khotehang-6, Indrenipokhari, came third. Similarly, in the boys' 3-kilometer race, Nissan KC of Nirmalidanda came first, Darshan Rai of Kalika Basic School, Rawabensi 1, Kubinde, came second, and Angel Rai of the same school came third. The first, second and third place winners in the 3-kilometer race for girls and boys under 12 years of age received trophies, medals and certificates along with cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. In the 7-kilometer race for girls under 12 to 15 years of age, Asmita Katwal of Shitla Secondary School, Laxmi Rai of Khotehang-6 Indrenipokhari and Kavita Acharya of Diktel came first, while in the boys category, Sampat Rai of Bhojpur Hatuwagadhi-9, Newjal Rai of Diprung Chuichumma-6 Sapteshwor Chitapokhari and Dheeraj Rai of Nerpa came first and third.
