South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship medalist Nischal Thapa Chhetri was felicitated by Arambha Sanskar Vidyalaya on Friday.

Nischal won 1-1 silver and bronze medals in the tournament held in Shimla, India from April 8 to 11. He won silver in the U-15 boys doubles and bronze in the U-15 boys team event.

Arambha Principal Naresh Prasad Shrestha and Vice Principal Dinesh Shrestha honored Nischal with a letter of appreciation and a token of love.

On the same occasion, Prajna Maharjan, who will participate in the International Christian Table Tennis Tournament to be held in Incheon, South Korea, was bid farewell. Nischal is studying in class 9 and Prajna is studying in class 7 at Arambha. Arambha has provided full scholarships to both of them.

Six players from Nepal, including Prajna, will compete in the tournament to be held on May 27. Other players include Himal Bista, Yonggi Poudel, Suramya Shakya, Rijan Shakya and Rivanmuni Bajracharya. Before the competition, the players will participate in the Yang Yongja Table Tennis Mission International Camp in Incheon from May 16 to 26. The team will leave on Saturday.

Principal Shrestha said that Nischal's success has enhanced the reputation of not only the school but also the entire nation, adding that Arambha has been providing scholarships to talented players with the aim of facilitating their sports journey.
