Dal Bahadur Kunwar and Sunmaya Budha have won the title of the sixth Rara Trail Run organized at Rara Lake in Mugu. Dal Bahadur won the title in the men's and Sunmaya won the title in the women's category in the 16-kilometer trail run organized by the Nepal Army.
Dal Bahadur completed the 16-kilometer distance in 1 hour 15 seconds. Sunmaya covered the prescribed distance in 1 hour 13 minutes 50 seconds, Lokendra Giri informed.
According to him, Yuvak Raj Budha won the silver medal in the men's category by completing the distance in 1 hour 59 seconds and Akkal Baduwal won the bronze medal in 1 hour 3 minutes 55 seconds. In the women's category, Rammaya Budha won the silver medal in 1 hour 15 minutes 1 second and Sunsari Rokaya won the bronze medal in 1 hour 27 minutes 28 seconds. Rokaya is the silver medalist in the women's category of the Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon that ended on April 26.
The first placer in the Rara Trail was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000, the second placer Rs 30,000 and the third placer Rs 20,000.
312 men and 49 women runners participated in the trail run. Meanwhile, Deviraj Rokaya won the men's 5-kilometer race and Manisha Rawal won the women's race. Deviraj covered the 5-kilometer distance in 21 minutes and 9 seconds. Manisha covered the same distance in 33 minutes and 37 seconds, according to the organizing Nepali Army.
Similarly, in the men's category, Sushil Bik won the silver medal in 21 minutes and 26 seconds and Lok Bahadur Bhandari won the bronze medal in 22 minutes and 52 seconds. Pushpa Rokaya won the bronze medal in the women's category by covering the distance in 33 minutes and 45 seconds. The Nepali Army's Hanuman Dhwaj Gulm informed that 31 men and 15 women participated in the 5-kilometer run.
This competition is being organized every year to increase the attraction of youth in the sports field, to identify Karnali as a potential area in terms of sports tourism, and to identify the talents of athletes. This Rara Trail Run is expected to strengthen civil-military relations. The Nepali Army also organized a photo exhibition, Khukuri dance, and a cultural program reflecting local culture.
In the run organized by the Nepali Army's Hanuman Dhwaj Gulm, Lieutenant General Dipesh Jung Shah and record-breaking runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya presented the awards.
