According to the organizer, Karnali Sports Club Jumla, 49 runners, including one each from India and France, participated in the marathon.

The seventh Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon has begun in Jumla. The Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon, organized with the aim of introducing the beauty and potential of Karnali through sports, began at 6 am on Saturday. The organizer Karnali Sports Club Jumla has stated that 49 runners, including one from India and one from France, participated in the marathon. The first female and male athletes in the marathon will be awarded one lakh rupees in cash and gold medals. The second placer will be given 75 thousand rupees with a silver medal and the third placer will be given 50 thousand rupees with a bronze medal. The fourth and fifth placers will be awarded 20 thousand rupees each, the organizer has stated.

The Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon starts from Chandannath, Bhairavnathko Angan, Khalanga Bazaar, Jumla and is 54 kilometers long and ends at the Hutu side of Mugu, Raratal. Along with the marathon, a 10-kilometer and a 5-kilometer race were also organized. Saroj Shahi, the chairman of the organizer Karnali Sports, informed that 200 people ran in the 10-kilometer and 600 in the 5-kilometer race.

Creative runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya pointed out the potential of Jumla to become an excellent destination for sports tourism, saying that the Jumla Rara Marathon, which is organized every year, has also contributed to it. ‘Sports in Karnali are not being given priority by the government. Players are not getting to show their talent. Such marathon competitions are becoming a model for the development of the sports sector and showcasing the talent of players,’ Rokaya said.

The organizer has stated that the winning players will be awarded near Rara Lake.
