Kalpana and Dhir win Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon title

Dhir won the gold medal by covering the 54-kilometer distance from Chandannath Temple in Jumla Khalanga to Rara Lake in 6 hours, 9 minutes and 8 seconds. In the women's category, Kalpana covered the distance in 7 hours, 7 minutes and 12 seconds.

The title of the 7th Jumla Rara Ultra Marathon has been won by Dhir Budha in the men's category and Kalpana Budha in the women's category. Dhir won the gold medal by covering the 54-kilometer distance from Chandannath Temple in Jumla Khalanga to Rara Lake in 6 hours 9 minutes 8 seconds. Kalpana covered the distance in 7 hours 7 minutes 12 seconds for the women's category. 

According to Madhuraj Neupane, secretary of Karnali Sports Club Jumla, Homlal Shrestha took second place in the men's category by covering the same distance in 6 hours 11 minutes 22 seconds. Gopal Tamang covered the same distance in 6 hours 13 minutes 34 seconds and secured third place. Chandra Rawat and Milan Rai came fourth and fifth respectively. 

Meanwhile, in the women's category, Sunsari Rokaya covered the distance in 7 hours 18 minutes 53 seconds and won the silver medal. Sandeva Budha managed to win the bronze medal in 7 hours 38 minutes 47 seconds. Rajya Lakshmi Rawal and Pushpa Serma secured fourth and fifth place respectively in the women's category. Secretary Neupane informed that the winners of the

marathon will be awarded near Rara Lake on Sunday morning. The first-place female and male athletes in the

marathon will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000 each, a gold medal and a certificate. The second-place winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000 each, a silver medal and a certificate, and the third-place winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each, a bronze medal and a certificate. The fourth and fifth-place winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a finisher's medal and a certificate, according to the organizer Karnali Sports Club Jumla. Out of 60 people who underwent a health check for the

marathon, only 49 ran. Secretary Neupane said that only 45 people reached Rara Lake. The marathon started from Chandannath Temple at 6 am. One runner each from India and France participated in the marathon.

Saroj Shahi, the club president, informed that trees will be planted based on the number of players who reached from Jumla to Rara. The players participating in the race and those involved in the management were insured for an accident worth five lakh rupees. The runners were welcomed by the Panchebaja in the morning. Along with the marathon, 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer races were organized. 

In the 10-kilometer men's race, Basanta Budha won first, Naveen Pariyar second and Raj Bhandari third. In the women's 10-kilometer race, Sapana Budha won first, Sushmita Bhandari second and Goukali Rawat third. The winning players were awarded medals and trophies with cash prizes of 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively. 

Meanwhile, in the 5-kilometer race, Norvhu Rana won first, Naresh Rawat second and Nawaraj Mahatara won third. Kritika Sunar won first, Emuna Budha second and Khushi Budhathoki Magar third.
