Chitlang FC Kathmandu has won the eighth National Bagmati Gold Cup Football Tournament.
Chitlang won the title by defeating Bagmati Youth Club of Sarlahi 4-0 in the final held on Saturday at the Shahid Smriti Rangshala Jhurjhure Sports Ground in Bagmati Rural Municipality. For Chitlang, Aaron Thapa scored in the second minute of the game, while foreign player Solomon King scored in the 17th and 48th minutes. Another goal was scored by Sameer Tamang in the 77th minute of the game. Sameer was declared the Player of the Match. Winner Chitlang received Rs 1 million and runner-up Bagmati received Rs 5 million.
Laxman Thapa of Chitlang was declared the best player of the tournament. He received Rs 1 lakh 1 thousand. Similarly, the best goalkeeper was Priso from Chitlang, the best defender was Ayush Magar from Bagmati, the best midfielder was Anish Maharjan from Bagmati, the best forward was Aaron Thapa from Chitlang and the best coach was Suman Shrestha. All the best in each category received Rs 25,000 each.
The winners and runners-up were awarded prizes by Bagmati Provincial Assembly member Prem Bahadur Pulami, Bagmati Rural Municipality Chairman Sarkesh Ghalan and competition coordinator Rahar Singh Thing.
10 teams participated in the competition organized by the Bagmati Sports Development Committee under the sponsorship of Bagmati Rural Municipality Makwanpur.
