The construction of the cricket ground has been completed in Gauritar, Hetauda-6. This project, which was launched as a pride project by the Bagmati Province Government, was started two years ago and the construction work was completed by the end of Baisakh of the current year.
According to Deepak Lama, Member Secretary of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, a total of Rs 117.4 million has been spent on the cricket ground, which was built with a drainage system. The construction work of the ground was started on Chaitra 20, 2080 by signing a contract agreement with SNS-PL-HKC JV.

The council has stated that the grass is currently being leveled to level the ground. Bermuda grass has been used in the ground. Member Secretary Lama said that preparations are underway to organize a national-level competition and formally inaugurate the ground in the near future. According to him, the ground is suitable for conducting international-level games as the necessary technical standards have been met. ‘International-level competitions can be conducted in the current situation,’ he said.
The council has sought assistance from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) in the quality of the pitch, field management and other technical aspects. It is said that CAN is also providing the necessary assistance and has given an initial assessment that the ground is suitable for conducting international competitions.
According to CAN central member Karan Mahatara, preparations are being made to work with the technical assistance of the curator of the TU International Cricket Ground to make all five pitches more quality. ‘CAN is taking the assistance of a Bangladeshi curator to maintain the quality of the TU pitch. The same will be done here too,’ he said.
The council plans to construct an additional parapet with a capacity of about 6,000 spectators in the coming phase. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the parapet will be expanded into four blocks. Currently, the construction of one block has been completed under the first phase, while the remaining structures will be constructed gradually.
Along with the cricket field, a football field, swimming pool and other structures are being constructed in the Gauritar stadium complex. Plans have also been put forward to start the construction of a lawn tennis court, motor racing track and football training ground within the current fiscal year. For this, the provincial government has allocated a budget of Rs 80 million in the current year.
According to the council, all future construction work will be carried out through a multi-year contract system.
