The Governor (Sagar Distillery Group) has won the Jungle Safari Five ‘A’ Side Cricket Tournament. The Governor defeated Kathalaya Education Consultancy by 3 wickets in a match organized by Events Durbar Pvt. Ltd. at Chitwan Forest Resort in Sauraha, Chitwan.
Kathalaya, which won the toss, scored 48 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 5 overs. In reply, Sagar Distillery scored 52 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 5 overs. Prabhu Bank came third.
In the 3-day tournament, Raunak of Kathalaya was the best batsman and Binam Chhetri was the best bowler in the men’s category. Kalpana Kunwar of Lakshmi Sunrise Bank was the best batsman and Rita Rajbanshi was the best bowler in the women’s category. Binam of Kathalaya was adjudged the best player.
Nine participating teams competed in the group stage. Laxmi Sunrise, Prabhu Bank, Ubbali Media competed in Group 'A', Kathalaya, NRNA Team A, Kantipur Max competed in Group 'B' and NRNA Team B, Cricket Utsav and The Governor competed in Group 'C'.
Ratnanagar Municipality Mayor Pralhad Sapkota and Hotel Association former president Deepak Bhattarai inaugurated the tournament. Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Secretary Dipesh Khatri started the tournament with bowling and Mayor Sapkota batting. NRNA Secretary Khatri awarded the winning players.
