Nepal has started batting against Oman in the Cricket World Cup League 2. Nepal captain Rohit Poudel decided to bat after winning the toss at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Tuesday.
This is the last match in this series of League 2. Nepal has changed two players from the team that played against UAE on Friday. Bhim Sarki and Sompal Kami have been replaced by Asif Sheikh and Karan KC.
Although Asif batted alongside Binod Bhandari in the opening match, Binod was out for a golden duck in the first ball. Bhandari was caught by Hammad Mirza while defending the ball of Oman's Jatin Ramanandi. Arjun Kumal has come in to replace Binod.
In the previous match against UAE, Binod and Arjun Kumal, who were making their debut, had batted in the opening match. In the previous match against Oman, Nepal was defeated by 102 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis method. Nepal had won both matches against UAE. Oman, on the other hand, lost both matches to UAE.
Nepal remains in seventh place with 16 points from 23 matches. Oman is in third place with 31 points from 27 matches. Nepal has lost all three matches against Oman in Kirtipur in League 2. In the 2023 Asia Cup qualifiers, Nepal defeated Oman with a century from Kushal Malla.
