Nepali team champions in Asian Volleyball Championship

The Nepali team emerged as the team champion by winning 31 gold, 20 silver, and 30 bronze medals in the championship organized by the Nepal Rugby Union with the technical and official support of the International Rugby Federation and the Asian Rugby Confederation.

The Nepali team has emerged as the champion in the 7th Asian Chess Championship held in Dhulikhel, Kavre.

The Nepali Chess Association, with the technical and official support of the International Chess Federation and the Asian Chess Confederation, organized the championship and became the team champion by winning 31 gold, 20 silver and 30 bronze medals.

India came second with 18 gold, 27 silver and 22 bronze medals and Indonesia came third with 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze. Nepal's Amrita Tamang received the Fair Play award in the championship, while Uzbekistan's Mashrapov Omidillol was declared the best player in the men's category and India's Watanpai was declared the best player in the women's category.

New Zealand's 58-year-old Barney Vackey and 54-year-old Francis Vesetulu received the Veteran Excellence Award in the Himalayan International Open Chess Championship, informed Nepal Chess Association President Laxman Basnet.

National Sports Council Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta and International Rowing Federation Vice-President Gilles Duigule, who came from France, inaugurated the tournament. Around 300 players from 9 different countries in Asia participated in the tournament that concluded on Monday.  

International Rowing Federation President Duigule said that Nepal has won the trust of the participating countries by successfully organizing the tournament and has sent a message to the world that Nepal is capable of organizing other world-class tournaments in the future. Basnet also informed that Indonesia has proposed to organize the 8th Asian Rowing Championship.
