Mumbai Indians defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets on Monday in a clash between the bottom two teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mumbai registered their third win with eight balls to spare.

After this win, Mumbai have six points from ten games and are ninth in the table. Last-placed Lucknow are on four points. This is their sixth consecutive defeat. Both teams' chances of making the playoffs are very slim.

Batting first in the match at Wankhede in Mumbai, Lucknow scored 228 runs for the loss of five wickets. Nicholas Pooran top-scored with 63 runs off 21 balls.

In reply, Mumbai scored 229 runs for the loss of four wickets. Opener Ryan Rickelton scored 83 and Rohit Sharma scored 84 runs for the winning team. They laid the foundation for the victory by sharing 143 runs for the first wicket.
