Runner Sanjay Rai has won the title of the famous sixth Listikot Dugunagadhi Mountain Trail Race in the district. Rai came first in the open competition held on Monday by covering a distance of 24.5 kilometers in 2 hours 11 minutes.
Rai, who won the title by beating 127 competitors, received a cash prize of Rs 110,000, while runner Karan Rawal came second by covering the prescribed distance in 2 hours 12 minutes. He received a cash prize of Rs 75,000, while third Ramesh Limbu came third by covering the prescribed distance in 2 hours 14 minutes. He received a prize of Rs 55,000. Narendra Singh Rawal, Lokendra Rai and Rajendra Tamang, who came fourth, fifth and sixth, won a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each.
Similarly, Asma Bik came first in the women's category. She covered the prescribed distance in 2 hours 58 minutes and won a cash prize of Rs 60,000. Chandana Rai and Bhawana Shahi came second and third respectively and received prizes of Rs 35,000 and Rs 20,000. From the Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality of the
district, Jangbo Sherpa, Krishna Bhandari and Nimachhiring Tamang came first, second and third respectively. They received prizes of Rs 30,000, 20 and 15,000 respectively. The trailer race has been organized since 2077 BS under the main sponsorship of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality and in collaboration and management of the Nepal Army Gorakh Box Battalion. Vice President Dichen Sherpa said that Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 800,000 for this. 'The start point was the dry port, in which 127 runners participated,' she said. The race, which started from the dry port, ended after reaching Bunji, Panglang, Bhaldhung, Listikot, Gumba, Sildum, Dharapani, Godam, and Dugunagadhi.
Upatyaka Pritanapati Upatyaka Rabindra Khatri, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality Chairman Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Vice Chairman Dichen Sherpa and others presented awards to the winners.
