The fourth Kohalpur Gold Cup football tournament began on Saturday with the victory of the host Racing Sahara Club. The host defeated Panchkoshi Yuva Club Sudurpaschim by 2-1 at the proposed Kohalpur Football Stadium in Kohalpur-2. Foreign players Pepe and Phaguram Tharu scored goals for the host in the first half. Panchkoshi's Nusahara Upreti scored a goal in the 88th minute of the game. Pepe of Racing Sahara Club was declared the man of the match. He received Rs 5,000.
The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Kohalpur Municipality Mayor Purna Prasad Acharya and Deputy Mayor Sangita Subedi. Mayor Mayor Acharya said that this Gold Cup, which has been running for four years, has become the identity of Kohalpur.
Deputy Mayor Sangita Subedi said that it is a matter of pride that grassroots football, ward Gold Cup and national level competitions are being organized in Kohalpur.
The organizers Racing Sahara Club (Kohalpur, Banke), Panchkoshi Youth Club (Sudurpaschim), Laligurans Association Club (Pokhara), Satdobato Youth Club (Lalitpur), Just Zone FC (Nigeria), Royal Football Club (Karnali), Rising Star Club (Nawalparasi) and the departmental team Nepal Police Club are participating in the competition. The organizer has stated that a match will be held between Just Zone FC and Royal Football Club Karnali Province on Sunday. The winner will win 8 lakh rupees and the runner-up will win 4 lakh rupees.
