Rukum Paschim Volleyball Club has become the champion of the Prime Minister's Cup NVA Volleyball League for the first time. In the men's final held at the Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor on Saturday, Rukum Paschim defeated the five-time champion Help Nepal Sports Club in straight sets of 3-0.
This is the 10th edition of the tournament. Nepal Police Club has defended the title in the women's category. Police defeated New Diamond Sports Club in the finals of 3-1. Police has won this tournament for the fourth time.
Both the women's and men's winners received a prize of Rs 1 million and the runner-up received Rs 5 million. With the title, Police Club has been selected for the Kabha Club Championship for the third consecutive time. Police has also avenged the defeat they suffered against New Diamond in the finals of the NVA Championship, Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Volleyball and Tiger Cup.
Police won the first set 25-21 in their favor, putting an end to New Diamond's undefeated journey. In the second set, New Diamond came back and scored 25-17. After this, the game was tied 1-1. In the third set, which became very competitive, Police won 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead in the game. In the fourth set, Police won the set 25-19 to take the title. Police won four titles in the category. Usha Bhandari of Police was named the best player. In the category, Salina Shrestha (New Diamond) was named libero, Pragati Nath (New Diamond) was named setter, Kopila Rana was named server (Police), Laxmi Chand (Police) was named spiker, and Sumitra Regmi (Police) was named blocker. Rupesh Kumar Bista of Police was named the best coach.
The men's final was exciting in the covered hall filled with spectators. Rukum West, supported by Pakistani players, won the first set 29-27. Rukum West won the title for the first time by winning the second set 25-21 and the third set 32-30. Fahad Raja of Rukum West was declared the best player in the men's category. Rajan Darlami (Rukum West) was the best player in the libero, Adnan Khan (Rukum West) was the best setter, Murad Jeshan (Help Nepal) was the best server, Afaq Khan (Rukum West) was the best spiker, and Chiranjeevi Khadka was the best blocker. Tej Bikram Khadka of the winning team was the best coach. The best players from both sides received Rs 60,000 each and the best player in the category received Rs 30,000 each.
